Current Sermon Series

Having just ended our Everyday Spirituality series, we begin in April an extended series on Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthian Church. If the Everyday Spirituality series was aimed at personal transformation, then the First Corinthians series is aimed at communal transformation. The thrust of the series overall will be directed toward the church engaging with a pluralistic culture and being effective missionaries in world that essentially lives by the credo, “This is my truth, tell me yours.”

The city of Corinth 2000 years ago would not be out of place in 2008 A.D. It was a port city and as such was a cultural melting pot where ideas about life, family, sex, work, law, and God flowed freely. The new Christians in Corinth struggled in such an environment as we do today. The Apostle Paul, as ever, pointing toward Jesus, goes to great length to correct the mistakes of a church that was wracked by division, confused sexually, overly competitive, unloving, disorderly, and in theological disarray.

In short, the lesson of Corinthians is in many ways “How NOT to be the Church.” The title of the series will thus be (to put a positive spin on the situation) Missional Living in a Post-Christian World.

Hi Christina,

We are still working on quality control. This week a new series begins based on First Corinthians. If we can get a good recording, we will post this week.
